The world is one single place. With countries, cities, people and cultures so different in so many ways. Yet, we're all connected. With that comes the need to communicate - wich can still be quite an issue regarding the multiple languages worldwide. Aiming to reduce the language barrier, Babel Talk was born. This is an app that works as a communication enabler. How it works? Simple - You call your foreign friend and you can both speak your native language. The app translates it, in real time, while you're having the conversation.
You choose the language you want to hear. No matter which language the other person is speaking, you will always understand, as you'll only hear the translation in your chosen language. You just need to call - listen and speak!
A prototype of this app was developed by David Jardim and Miguel Duarte, at the technology and programming event Sapo Codebits VII (Lisbon, 2014) and won 5th place in the jury's choice category.
